What you should do after the exams

Hi everyone (kids, rather),

Good job! We have all finished our SA1! Some of you may be starting to get your results. How did you do? Share them in the comments below!

Now, after the examinations, some of us may be very bored, or some of us may be looking at new topics, or even playing and forget about everything!

So what should be the right thing to do? Actually, it's just nothing! All we should do is just listen to our teachers, and as well as revise what we have done.

But why? After the exams, it is a time for us to relax and distress, but we should not go too far, as we may drop in our normal studies.

Hope this post is useful for you.

Relieving Stress

Hi everyone,

Yes, I know that exams are coming, and your'e using up your precious play and sleep time for revision. So chill guys, chill. Let's not go too far overboard. Maybe the following tips on relieving stress and tiredness would help.

1. Have a nice cooling bath. Never (okay, you may think I am using Singlish, but I really recommend you never do so)throw your bag at a corner and start taking out your assessment books. You would be more energized and refreshed to do your work.

2. Never (here we go again......) spend the rest of your time at the study. Go out and breathe in some fresh air and look at some faraway greens. You may be already straining your eyes to look at this post.

3. Never (see, how important 'never' can be)sleep later than 9.30p.m., especially the day before the exams. You need sleep to be energized and as well as focus on your paper.

Hope these tips are useful! Also, don't mistake me as I'm using Singlish. I'm not that a Singlish King. 原来 'never' 其实很重要!:D :P

A Fire - Model Essay

Hi everyone,

the composition examinations are coming, aren't they? Let's enjoy the following essay about a fire:

A Day I Would Never Forget
“Grr…Grr…” my stomach grumbled. I just sat on the couch, trying to resist my hunger. It was the school holidays then, my parents were at work, and my domestic helper had gone out. I was really bored and no one could cook me lunch, so I could just watch television programmes.
As I was watching a show, I started to get thirsty and decided to have a drink. Just then, I felt something fall. When I turned around, I caught sight of a packet of instant noodles! “Why don’t I try cooking it? I shall just follow the way Aunt Mary does it,” I thought hungrily.
I grabbed the packet and poured it in to a pot. I also added some hot water. I then turned the fire up, waiting for the instant noodles to be ready.
“The Adventures of the Fearless Four, playing now!” I heard the television announce. My favourite show! Not caring about the piping hot stove, I rushed to the couch and focused my eyes on the screen.
The show was getting more and more exciting and interesting. I was so engrossed in the programme that I totally forgot about the stove!
Suddenly, the smell of smoke wafted into my nostrils. When I turned towards the kitchen and noticed that there was a fire! Worse still, I had the windows left open, so a strong wind blew at the stove and the flame from under the pot suddenly fanned out from under the stove! Seeing this, I immediately grabbed some paper towels to cover the fire, but the tongues of flames ate restlessly into the paper towels. Not long later, the whole room was engulfed in flames.
Things were going way too fast! I panicked as I tried to evacuate, but I then felt the smoke assaulting my nostrils. My eyes were smarted by the thick black smoke. Anxiety and fear clogged my throat and made me suffocate. I could not move a muscle and could only wait helplessly.
Soon, I heard the wailing of sirens resonating in a distance! The fire brigade! I was safe! I heard the heavy footsteps of the firemen approaching. Suddenly, a few firemen broke down the door and charged in. Two firemen carried me out while the others braved the flames. After a determined search, the firemen found the source of the fire and quelled the last of the raging fire.
Suddenly, I heard a familiar cry. It was my mother! I immediately ran over to her and gave her a big embrace. We then ran downstairs to join the crowd.
Just then, one of the firemen shouted to everyone that the fire was extinguished. Everyone cheered. Mother and I went to see our flat at once.
Mother and I started at the charred remains. The whole room was covered in black soot. Many items were damaged.
“I guess we should give this house clean up.” sighed Mother.

After this lesson, I realised that such a small distraction like a television programme could cause so much trouble and I promised myself to be more careful and vigilant next time.

An Educational Tip

Hi everyone,

School is starting one month later! You should have bought them already! I have something for you to do with them:
1) Browse through them. Get a grasp on what you are going to learn next year.
2) Research on some points you do not know. At least you can understand what they are talking about.
3) Look up the dictionary for new words that you find. (Especially in your English textbook.) you can use them for compositions.

Hope these tips are useful!
